At NewGen Families, we understand the emotional demands of surrogacy for both our surrogates and intended parents. That’s why we believe that mental health care is essential every step of the way. We are proud to partner with Embra Health to offer four different consultations with licensed mental health professionals tailored to different stages of the surrogacy journey.
1. Gestational Carrier (GC) Psychological Evaluation
Prior to matching, our surrogates participate in a psychological evaluation to ensure that they are mentally and emotionally capable of handling the complex responsibilities of surrogacy, safe-guarding the well-being of all parties. The evaluation covers topics such as:
- Emotional preparedness
- Current and past mental health
- Motivations
- Relationship dynamics and support systems
- Legal considerations
- Conflict resolution

2. Intended Parent (IP) Consultation
Upon match, our intended parents then participate in an IP Consultation to aid with readiness for the journey. The consultation covers topics such as:
- Emotional preparedness
- The surrogacy process
- Relationship dynamics
- Support systems
- Coping strategies

3. Joint Journey Prep Meeting
Prior to the transfer, our intended parents and surrogates participate in a Joint Journey Prep Meeting. This meeting intends to build a deeper connection between all parties, and ensures that everyone is as prepared emotionally as possible for the journey together. The consultation covers topics such as:
- Communication styles
- Clarifying roles and expectations
- Handling potential challenges
- Post birth plans
4. Journey Touchpoints
The Embra Health team is also available for both individual or joint touchpoints, should our intended parents or surrogates need additional support or guidance throughout the journey.
