The length of time can vary based on many factors, including time taken to collect your medical records, receive medical clearance and to  achieve a pregnancy. We find on average our journeys can take on average around 18 months for surrogates from the moment you begin your application to the end of your journey but this can vary based on your unique circumstances.

The safety and wellbeing of our surrogates, intended parents, and their babies are paramount. We adhere to the ethical and medical standards set forth by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS) to ensure safe and ethical journeys.

The process begins with a complimentary consultation with Damien, our CEO & Co-Founder, where he can learn more about your family-building goals and discuss how we can help you achieve them. When you are ready to move forward, you will begin reviewing surrogate profiles and conducting match meetings. Once you are matched, you will enter into a formal agreement with us, pay your agency fee and fund your escrow account with the first 50% of the journey costs. We believe our surrogate’s immense generosity should be reciprocated so the base compensation for a NewGen Families surrogate begins at $45,000 and upwards, depending on a variety of factors, with an additional $5,000 bonus for legal and medical clearance. We also offer a unique third trimester pamper package and allowances for lost wages. During your call with our Surrogacy Program Director Amanda, she will be able to provide you with more detail regarding the specific benefits package you are eligible for. Gestational carriers do not share DNA with the baby. Instead, the embryo is created using the eggs and sperm of the intended parents or donors. The gestational carrier (commonly referred to as the surrogate by us) carries the pregnancy but is not genetically related to the child. This distinguishes gestational surrogacy from traditional surrogacy, where the surrogate uses her own eggs and is thus the biological mother of the child. NewGen Families only facilitates gestational surrogacy arrangements.

We have staff members located throughout the USA, and we are able to coordinate everything remotely, so you do not need to live close to the agency or the IVF clinic. The  only location requirement, if you are a surrogate, is that you live in a surrogacy-friendly state. There are no location requirements for intended parents.

No, you will never need to travel outside the USA during your journey. If you choose to work with international IPs, they will always travel to you.

No, you must have successfully carried a pregnancy to term and given birth, both without complications as per American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidelines.

BMI guidelines are set by the IVF clinics due to health reasons and to ensure that you will respond appropriately to the medications necessary for your surrogacy journey.

Yes, a tubal ligation has no impact on your ability to become pregnant via IVF or carry a pregnancy to term.

It depends on your specific circumstances. This is something that can be discussed with Amanda, our Surrogacy Program Director during the application process.

We partner with expert insurance brokers to assess your existing insurance policy or to purchase insurance if you do not have a policy. If your existing policy is deemed to be surrogacy friendly, the policy can be used for your journey. If there is doubt around whether your policy is surrogate friendly or it expressly states that it is not, the intended parents will purchase a new policy for you through the insurance brokers during open enrollment. In most cases you can keep your current policy as the secondary policy.

At NewGen Families we require that our intended parents fully fund their escrow before your embryo transfer and maintain a balance of at least $10,000 at all times to ensure that all your medical bills and journey related expenses are always paid on time.

Yes, as soon as you match you will be connected with each other and can start building a close and supportive relationship.

For the medical screening and IVF process you will be under the care of your intended parent(s) IVF clinic and will travel to the clinic for medical screening and embryo transfer. Around week 10-14 you will graduate from the IVF clinic and continue the pregnancy under the care of your local OB. You will discuss your desired birth setting ahead of time with your intended parents, so both parties are in agreement.

You will travel to your intended parents (IPs) clinic for medical screening and embryo transfers. Other than those IVF clinic visits, you can remain at home. Your IP(s) will travel to you for pregnancy appointments if they can attend in person, and ahead of the birth. Typically after week 24, surrogates are asked to remain in their home state for legal and insurance reasons.

That is entirely up to you and your intended parent(s) what kind of relationship you would like to have post-birth. This is something discussed during your match meeting to make sure you are both aligned on your vision for the journey.

We do not require a COVID-19 vaccination to become a surrogate with us, however many IVF clinics and intended parents are making this a requirement. Therefore, it may take a little longer to find a match but we do believe there is a match for everyone.

Surrogates may receive a portion of their compensation even if a miscarriage occurs. The specifics can vary depending on the terms negotiated in the Gestational Carrier Agreement (GCA). Surrogacy contracts include clauses regarding the base compensation payment schedule and additional benefits for medical procedures that a surrogate may need to undergo. It’s important to work with agency and legal professionals to ensure both parties’ rights and responsibilities are understood.

Yes, if you follow your clinic’s guidelines we can match within 90 days. However, if you have additional criteria above ASRM guidelines and your clinic’s criteria, it may take longer. This is something we can discuss in your initial consultation.

No, fortunately surrogacy arrangements are open to both US citizens and international intended parents.

Some intended parents (IPs) travel to the US to deposit their sperm or to create embryos, while others choose to ship their sperm, eggs or embryos from their home country. Some IPs will choose to travel for the embryo transfer or 20-week scan, whilst other IPs will only travel ahead of the birth. This is something you can discuss with your surrogate and our team to decide what is right for you as a surrogacy team. We recommend arriving at least three weeks prior to your baby’s due date, however you should be prepared to arrive anytime throughout the pregnancy as babies can arrive earlier than expected.

Yes, the 14th amendment states that “all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States”. This means that once you have collected your birth certificates from Vital Records, you can then apply for your child’s passport with the US Department Of State.

No, we do not charge a deposit. Your first payment is due upon being officially matched with your surrogate. This is something that sets us apart from most other surrogacy agencies that typically require deposits to join their waitlist.

Yes, both intended parents and surrogates have full control over who they would like to do a match call with. After the call, both you and your surrogate have to agree to the match in order to move forward.

We will connect you with an insurance expert to ensure that your surrogate has medical insurance that will cover the pregnancy and if you live outside the US we will assist you in purchasing newborn insurance to cover the baby once it’s born. If you live in the US, typically intended parents can add their newborn to their existing insurance policy, but we advise you to confirm this with your insurance provider in advance.

If there are no complications, parents and their babies are usually discharged from the hospital within 72 hours after the birth. The next step is to book a time with Vital Records to collect copies of your child’s birth certificate. Once you have a copy of your child’s birth certificate, you can apply for a US passport. For international intended parents, this is when your home attorney should begin the process of acquiring local citizenship and a passport.

We always advise that you arrive at least 2 weeks prior (for US IPs) and 3 weeks prior (for international IPs) to the birth, to allow time for you to settle but also enough time if your baby arrives earlier than expected.

Typically we advise our international IP’s to arrive 3 weeks prior to the birth and then most stay for around 2 – 4 weeks post birth to secure all the necessary documentation to bring their baby home. However, this can vary based on your specific circumstances so we recommend consulting an Australian lawyer and immigration specialist.

We will always match you with a surrogate in a state where you can accomplish all the necessary legal paperwork in order to ensure that you are granted your parental rights. Once you are matched with a surrogate, an independent Assisted Reproduction (ART) attorney will negotiate the Gestational Carrier Agreement (GCA) on your behalf. They will draft and negotiate the terms of a GCA with your surrogate’s independent attorney and will also work with you to obtain a pre-birth or post-birth order.

Your child will be born where your surrogate resides, in the hospital that you have both agreed upon prior.

No, she will travel to your IVF clinic for medical screening and embryo transfers. You will be notified of the estimated travel costs prior and these will be automatically deducted from your escrow account.

Yes, you will need a US attorney who specializes in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) to represent you throughout your entire journey. You have complete control over the attorney you choose for the journey. If you are an international intended parent, we strongly advise you to engage with an attorney in your own country to clarify the rules of your home country and to ensure a smooth return process. Before your embryo transfer milestone, you will also need to update your will.

The relationship between a surrogate and the intended parents is beautiful and unique. At NewGen Families, we aim to create matches between surrogates and intended parents with similar communication styles and expected communication levels. In doing so, we encourage at least weekly contact with your surrogate. It is our hope that over time your relationship will blossom. We work with surrogates who are both vaccinated and not vaccinated. If vaccinations are important to you, you are able to specify during our initial consultation with us so we can share profiles with you that meet your preferences.

Navigating a surrogacy journey without using an agency can be risky. By using an agency like NewGen Families, you are working with experts, who have been intended parents (IPs) and surrogates previously and all journey managers members. have between 6-13 years experience in the role. This expertise is crucial when vetting potential candidates for surrogacy, helping both IPs and surrogates navigate the medical and legal process, and providing emotional support throughout the journey.

We do not offer financing options for the journey directly, however for intended parents based in the USA, there are companies who will assist with financing or you may be able to access employer benefits or 401k/ retirement funds to fund your journey. Yes, we partner with Embra Health to offer the following prior to embryo transfer:

1. Gestational Carrier (GC) Psychological Evaluations
2. Intended Parent (IP) consultations
3. Joint Journey Prep meeting

These consultations help to determine a surrogate’e suitability for our program as well as emotionally prepare all parties for the journey together. The cost for these three consultations is already included in your package with us.

Additionally, Embra Health offers journey touch points if either party would like additional support at any time throughout the pregnancy or after birth. The journey touch points are optional so these are an additional cost.

Through our trusted partners,  NewGen offers you access to some of the largest egg donor databases in the USA. All egg donor profiles contain information about their motivations to donate, education level achieved, family medical history and you can also access a donor’s comprehensive family health and genetic history report.

Selecting an egg donor is one of the most important decisions that you will make as an intended parent. The decision involves both individual preferences and important medical decisions. We will help you access an extensive donor database and ensure that you find a donor that is medically suitable and meets your preferences.

This all depends on whether the donor has opted to be a known donor. During your initial consultation with us, we talk in depth about the egg donor selection process and will support you in finding the right donor to assist you.

All of the donors in the US programs that we partner with are genetically screened. The sperm provider, whether it is the intended father or a sperm donor, will also undergo genetic screening. Your treating doctor will assess the results of both screening tests before a match is confirmed.

Gestational carriers or Gestational surrogates undergo IVF treatment for the purposes of becoming pregnant with a child that they do not share a biological connection with.
